It’s nothing new.

It is quite surprising that this challenge of ours has generated interest, especially after the article in The Examiner last week. The zero waste concept has been around for quite some time elsewhere in the world, and indeed in our own country, with several mainland states embracing the concept at a local and state government level. South Australia seems to be leading the way, with some of the highest rates of recycling in Australia. They also have a strategy aimed at reducing waste to landfill by 35% early as 2020. This is a great site, it’s government getting on board and making a difference through education and effective policy making. We love this sort of thing and hope that Tasmania’s government and local councils jump on board in the coming years.
