beeswax cling wrap

June 3, 2013

We were recently at one of our favorite Cafes in Launceston, The Milk Bar Cafeand Isis had recently discovered beeswax wraps as an alternative to plastic cling wrap. We had recently discovered them only a week ago too and it was on my “to do list” of things to try and make.

I cannot say how stoked we were to come across beeswax at the honey store in Perth, so this afternoon we gave it a go. It is super easy, something the kids could get into and leaves your hands smelling just lovely! Bare in mind that these were done quickly with no thought for prettiness. You could be as creative as you like with making them!

step 1. Get an old cotton sheet from the op shop and cut into whatever shape you like…

Step 2..Grate beeswax onto the cut out square

Step 3…place on oven tray with oven preheated to 80 degrees Cecilius.

Step 4…wait about 5 to 8 minutes until all wax is melted

Step 5..dry for a few minutes on cooling rack or on a clothes line and then wrap your goods!
